Helping Dunbar glow this Christmas

On Sunday 26 November, SSE Renewables Berwick Bank supported its first event of the festive season, the Dunbar Christmas Lights switch on, and some of the Berwick Bank team went along to show support in person.

The Christmas Lights switch on was supported for the first time by SSE Renewables Berwick Bank Offshore Wind Farm as headline sponsor and was hailed another success despite being hit by appalling weather conditions.

The event, which is entirely volunteer driven, brought the community together to celebrate the start of festivities. There were activities suitable for all ages as well as a mix of market stalls to browse and entertainment to enjoy on the day.

To provide people with additional information about the proposed offshore wind farm, we had a pop-up gazebo in the town centre.

Our team of volunteers thoroughly enjoyed participating in this fantastic event, it was an absolute delight to be part of. We had the opportunity to engage with the local community and talk further about the proposed development.

Thanks to Yvonne, Graham and the Dunbar Christmas Lights team for including us and congratulations on another glowing year. The work you do year-round is wonderful.

Graham Adams, chairperson, Dunbar Christmas Lights, added: “Our Christmas lights are a year-round community effort and a terrific experience for our visitors. It is supported by local businesses and an important social event for our community.

“It is an incredible event, one we’re so proud to hold and are grateful to our sponsors and their generous support, in particular our 2023 headline sponsor SSE Renewables Berwick Bank Wind Farm.”
