Midlothian and East Lothian businesses a green energy hub

SSE Berwick Bank was once again an event sponsor at the Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

Held at Eskmills in Musselburgh, the event was attended by 260 business leaders from across the region. Dr Liz Cameron CBE, representing the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, delivered an inspiring keynote speech, emphasising the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving economic growth and prosperity.

Our stand attracted a lot of interest, and attendees were keen to hear more about the supply chain opportunities associated with Berwick Bank as well as the potential for collaborative ventures and the positive impact on the local economy.

It’s clear to see that the area is becoming a real green energy hub with activities across the region underway to tackle climate change and reach net zero.

It was also great to see the breadth of local businesses there which are doing innovative and brilliant work – including the winner of the ‘High Growth Business of the Year’ category, Flowcopter. Their team have designed an industrial heavy-lift drone with a cutting-edge hydraulic power take off, enabling it to lift a heavy payload and fly for hours. This kind of technology has the potential to be revolutionary for the offshore wind industry.

SSE Berwick Bank's sponsorship of the Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce Business Awards reaffirms our commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship, fostering collaboration, and driving sustainable development within the community.

As we continue to support community initiatives that promote innovation and excellence, we look forward to building on our partnerships and creating lasting positive impacts for generations to come.
